Plug your guitar into your iDevice, run this app, and it converts what you play into polyphonic, velocity-sensitive MIDI in real time. The app itself is free, but a £2.99 in-app purchase is needed to make it useful, unlocking Virtual MIDI (for driving other iOS apps), Wi-Fi MIDI (best with a low-latency ad-hoc network) and MIDI cable output.Conversion latency is OK, though still off-putting during faster parts. Tracking of single-note lines is good, but with chords, notes were sometimes missed or cut off prematurely. For best results, you need super-clean playing technique, and even then, the MIDI will not always be a laser-accurate transcription (and using a humbucker pickup seems to really mess up the tracking). While not quite the flawless MIDI guitar nirvana seen in Jam Origin's promo video, to MIDI Guitar's credit, it handles picked, fingerstyle and legato playing, and any spurious notes are usually at least related to what you played.
JamOrigin's MidiGuitar, how to setup in Sonar.Partly, or perhaps mostly, I don't understand the process of installing midi. That said, I have been able to run MidiGuitar as a stand alone and run a synth thru it. I also got the buffers down to acceptable delay. Next was to do the same inside Sonar. I copied the midiguitar folder into the VST folder Ran Sonar and forced it to scan VSTs. No sign of it I opened the folder and copied just the 32 bit dll into the VST folder It shows up in the Sonar browser under VST's. Open new job, In Audio channel, FX install MIDIGuitar.

Set up the MIDIGuitar to Output/Dimension LE- set to piano Amp/Effect to None Played notes and get meter in the track on record mode, but only get guitar sound. There are two ways to use MIDI Guitar with a DAW. One is as a VST. The method for installing and configuring as a VST is in a link in your previous thread. There were some serious problems encountered when installation was attempted. Based on the installation issues it appeared that the VST method may not work with your configuration. You can try it again if your wish.
Just follow the directions in the link provided. The only part of the MIDI Guitar software that you need for the VST version in XP is the MIDIGuitar32.dll.
That would go in your VST plug-in path. The other method uses MIDI Guitar as a standalone program connecting to a DAW with virtual MIDI cables.
Now that you have a working standalone version, there is no need to move the MIDI Guitar software. The only part of the MIDI Guitar package that you are using in this case is MIDIGuitar32.exe. To use the standalone version to feed MIDI to SONAR, you will need to install virtual MIDI cable software. Either LoopMIDI or LoopBe1, free virtual MIDI cable solutions, will work. Once the virtual MIDI cable software is installed, the MIDI Guitar MIDI output needs to be set to the virtual cable and SONAR needs to have the MIDI cable added to MIDI Input devices.
Then when a MIDI track or SIT is created in SONAR, the MIDI input needs to point to the virtual MIDI cable. Ok ran MG as stand alone. At first it didn't see my BR800 as Audio Setting device until I rebooted it. In MG, Set instrument to Dimension LE Amp effect to none. Midi output to the Loopbe internal midi (no sound yet) Run Sonar (message about no device) Edit Preferences (no choices in Audio devices) and set Midi device ins and outs to Loopbe and br800 Start new job, Crash! With 2 notes.
The usual Sonarpdr.exe, needs to close and one from loopbe in the lower right task bar in windows saying' Midi feedback (shortcut) do not connect midi out and midi in of loopbe within a single application.' I take it this is about my edit pref settings. Which ones (of the 4) are wrong? Thanks so much again Skook. You're a champ.

It does look as if sonar doesn't like the combo as it crashes with any combination of ins and outs. I did get BR800 latency working with MG outside once I figured out how to lower the buffers.
I'm giving up on this and looking at a new midi PuP for the guitar. I found a $75 used GK3 for my GR20 just so it's not a complete throwaway and I'll look into the new wifi one that works with a USB dongle I saw somewhere.
I really need to be able to get those horns, keys and pads etc. Guess I should also learn to input by hand and/or to play the keys.
Again thanks for your patience. Scook You are welcome. MIDI Guitar is an interesting piece of software. I believe the next version will introduce separate MIDI channels for each string. That would be great, although I don't know how they would do separate channels without having the divided pickups like GK3 or RMC in which each string has its own little pickup. I look forward to that. The other thing that would be great (as long as we are wishing for the difficult) is to have a hold pedal that would allow for a chord or pad to held continuiously while we solo over the top of it. That feature is where GK55 and AXON's shine, but that is more live use than what MG is good at.
I see MG as a studio device/software to get the softsynths triggered. Still, if the difficult is the goal, then why not ask for it?? I guess I will make that request to JO. MGlennM Ok ran MG as stand alone. At first it didn't see my BR800 as Audio Setting device until I rebooted it.
